This past weekend, from Friday, April 6th to Sunday, April 8th, the team of OneLedger Technology Inc. attended the CryptoChicks Hackathon + Conference at the Mars Discovery District, Toronto, ON (Canada), as one of the event’s sponsors.
In attendance were more than 350 local and international speakers and attendees, some flying in from as far as the United States, Germany, Poland and much more.
It was a sight to be seen when more than 100 bright and talented technical and business hackers showed up to set in history one of the largest and first female Blockchain event in the Canadian East Coast.
On Friday, Hackathon opening day, OneLedger welcomed Hackers with an offering of t-shirts sporting the OneLedger’s logo on the front and the now familiar mission statement on the back: “ A Universal Blockchain Protocol Enabling Cross-Ledger Access through Business Modularization”. The t-shirts quickly gained in popularity among hackers, and in a matter of minutes were all gone.
On Saturday, second day of Hackathon, the OneLedger’s team showcased twice. First, Public Relations Officer, Othalia Doe-Bruce, gave a presentation on the effective integration of blockchain technology into business models. Then, David Cao, Founder of OneLedger, participated in a panel discussion on the impact of Laws & Regulations on Blockchain businesses. Amongst the other panelists were Alan Wunsche, CEO & Founder of TokenFunder; Monica Goyal, Lawyer & Founder for My Legal Briefcase; and Russel W. Drew, Partner at DLA Piper. The discussion was moderated by Alexandra Posadzki, Financial Services Reporter at The Globe and Mail.
On Sunday, last day of the conference and hackathon, David Cao, Founder of OneLedger, served as one of the judges to decide the team that would take home the prizes’ money, some of which was sponsored by OneLedger.

In the business track: Team EnviroChix, showcased project “ Refuse as Resource” which applies the potential of Blockchain to integrate Plastic into a circular economy that would incentivize citizens in the developing world to reduce waste and pollution.
In the developer track: Team BlockSock, showcased project “ G-nome” which uses Blockchain to enable citizens in developing world to take control over and monetize their genomics, while streamlining accurate and unskewed data necessary for the production of regionally safe drugs.
In the audience choice track: Team Northern Lights, showcased project “ Reg-A-Star” using Blockchain to track child births in developing areas were inefficient administrative practices lead to missed birth registrations which in turn promotes underage marriages and human right abuses.
The hackathon was an opportunity for OneLedger to meet potential candidates to join the team, and quickly identify the creativity and talent available in the hundreds of Blockchain enthusiast hackers who participated.
